Earlier this spring, the Department for Education (DfE) released the draft Trust Quality Descriptions. They describe them as "one of several ways in which we are providing greater clarity for the sector – helping to inform trusts’ improvement and capacity-building priorities."
Anticipating the need for a structured way to use these descriptions, we swiftly introduced a draft template in our online tool. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with many trust leaders expressing their enthusiasm about using them as a foundation for self-evaluation and strategic planning. Based on this positive feedback, we are pleased to announce the finalisation of two templates based on the Trust Quality Descriptions.
Two Powerful Templates: Choose Your Detail Level
We've developed two distinct templates, both serving the same essential purpose: to guide your trust's self-evaluation and improvement planning. The choice between the two comes down to the level of detail your trust requires.
The first template features an abacus bead for each of the five Trust Quality Descriptions pillars, along with rag-rateable statements nested within each bead. This template offers a broad view of the five pillars and the associated trust strengths and areas for improvement.

The second, more detailed template expands on this by dedicating a bead to each statement within the five pillars. The benefit of this detailed approach is that it provides a comprehensive visual overview and allows users to add evidence, analysis, and action planning to each statement.
